Various scholarships grant under programs like Ph.D., Masters, Bachelors in India; Bachelors, and Class-XI for study in Nepal have been granted to Nepalese Nationals for so many years through Embassy of India, Kathmandu; by the government of India. Around 3,000 scholarships are being provided for Nepalese students each year through Indian Embassy in Nepal.

  1. Compex Scholarship Scheme 2020 (The last date to submission of online application is 09.08.2020 (SUNDAY)

COMPEX is a scholarship scheme by Embassy of India in Nepal, that provides 100% scholarships for Nepalese students, in top Indian Universities in undergraduate courses mentioned below:

    • Engineering (BE)
    • Pharmacy (B. Pharmacy)
    • Agriculture (B.Sc-Agri)
    • Food Technology (B.Sc. – FT)
    • Nursing (B.Sc. Nursing)
  1. Number of scholarships offered under Compex Nepal Scholarship Scheme 2020

Every year, under this scholarship scheme a total number of 220 scholarship seats are offered. Below is the tentative scholarship seat course wise:

Engineering (BE) 160 seats
Pharmacy (B. Pharmacy) 15 seats
Agriculture (B.Sc-Agri) 15 seats
Food Technology (B.Sc. – FT) 15 seats
Nursing (B.Sc. Nursing) 15 seats


  1. When would the application form be released?

The Indian Embassy in Nepal usually releases the application form for COMPEX in the month of May or June. But due to this unprecedented Covid-19 pandemic, we expect the COMPEX application form to be released in the last week of July 2020.

  1. Is there any provision for the application fee to apply?

Yes, to apply for the COMPEX Nepal Scholarship scheme, a total of NPR 400/- (Nepali Rupees Four Hundred only) will be required to be paid as an application fee to the Embassy of India.

  1. Am I eligible for COMPEX -2020 Scholarship scheme provided by Indian Embassy, Nepal?

To be eligible, certain specific criteria are needed to be fulfilled by the applicants that have been set by the Indian Embassy in Nepal. Few selected criteria are:

  • The applicant should hold Nepali citizenship or other relevant documents that identify them as a Nepali citizen.
  • The required minimum age limit to apply is 16 years and the maximum age is 23 years. The date for determining the regulation is 01.07.2020.
  • Candidates who have already passed class XII or equivalent to 10+2 CBSE standard in India may apply. Candidates appearing in Plus 2/12th standard examination during the year 2020 can also apply who are in anticipation of their results. Their selection will however, be, depend upon fulfilling the above eligibility criteria.

Eligibility Criteria

2. B.Sc. (Ag) 60% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English in Grade XII and a minimum least 55% marks in each subject (Physics, Chemistry and Biology) in grade XII or equivalent.
3. B. Pharmacy 60% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English in Grade XII and a minimum of 55% marks in each subject (Physics, Chemistry and Biology) in Grade XII or equivalent.
4. B.Sc. (DT) 60% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English in Grade XII and a minimum of 55% marks in each subject (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics) in Class XII or equivalent.
5. B.Sc. (Nursing) 60% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English in Grade XII and a minimum of 50% marks in each subject (Physics, Chemistry and Biology) in Grade XII or equivalent.


  1. Is there any Exam for Eligibility?

The Indian Embassy in Nepal conducts a Computer Based Test (CBT) to select the candidates for the above courses. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this year the test is going to be a uniform online proctored test. The conduction of this test can be done from home.

  1. What is an online-based proctored exam?

An online proctored exam is a time-based exam that the candidate must attend while the proctoring software monitors the candidate’s computer desktop, webcam video, and audio.

  1. What is the exam pattern for the COMPEX Scholarship Scheme 2020?

According to the kind of program chosen by the candidate, the online-based exam is going to be subject wise. The test is a Multiple-Choice Question (MCQ) which incorporates four options for every question and no negative marking is going to be applied.

  1. What is the syllabus of the COMPEX Scholarship Exam?

There is no particular syllabus provided by the Embassy of India. But the candidates can choose materials as a referral from the syllabus of IOE. The test questions are constructed under CBSE Class XI and XII syllabus.

  1. What is enclosed under the COMPEX Scholarship scheme?

The following are going to be covered by the Embassy of India if the candidate gets the scholarship:

    • Institution/Tuition Fees for the entire duration of the program.
    • Hostel Accommodation Charges (excluding the mess charges). The mess fees are going be settled or paid by the concerned candidate directly to the institution.
    • Airfare for a 2-way ticket.
    • Monthly Stipend.
  1. Which is the best University/College under the COMPEX scholarship scheme?

Most candidates get into KIIT and VIT and few into IITs, NITs. This depends on their previous results.
